Mandatory Requirement for Consignee Income Tax Numbers on Import Shipments to Jordan

Subject: Mandatory Requirement for Consignee Income Tax Numbers on Import Shipments to Jordan (IMPORTANT)  

We would like to bring to your immediate attention a mandatory requirement regarding shipments to Jordan, in accordance with local customs regulations. This requirement pertains specifically to the Consignee details and is essential for the smooth clearance of goods.  

Mandatory Requirement:  

  • The Consignee's Tax Identification Number (Income Tax ID) must be clearly stated in the Consignee information section on the Bill of Lading (BL). This is necessary for  proper manifest processing.  
  • This requirement will be eƯective from January 1, 2025.

Exceptions to this requirement are as follows:  

  • For shipments with a final destination in transit or within a free zone, the tax number is not required.
  • For consignments listed as "To Order," the income tax number of the notify party must be provided.
  • For consignments to banks, the income tax number of the notify party must be provided.

Failure to comply with this regulation may result in significant penalties, including increased fines and delays in the clearance process.
